INSTRUCTIONS
For the Interfaith Unity Bike-a-Thon on Saturday August 24, 2019
This is a fundraiser and a “fun raiser” for the SCIC. Here is the way we work this:
On the day of the ride please arrive at De Forest Park at 7:30 AM for registration, bike check, and fellowship. The ride will begin at 8:00 AM. The plan this year is to ride from the park south along the Los Angeles Bikeway bike path towards the ocean. When we get to the beautiful Pacific, the sun and the surf, we’ll head south (east) as far as we care to go. If you make it all the way to what used to be the Belmont Pool, which is just past the Belmont Pier, it is 12.5 miles. At about 9:45 we can turn around wherever we are and head on back to De Forest Park. We’ll have some snacks and more fellowship beginning at 11:30. Our morning is complete at 12:00.
Everyone riding will need to sign the “Waiver and Release” form prior to the event and give it to the registrar before we leave on the trip. Also please bring a water bottle and bike helmet.
For the Interfaith Unity Bike-a-Thon on Saturday August 24, 2019
This is a fundraiser and a “fun raiser” for the SCIC. Here is the way we work this:
- Prior to the ride, gather sponsorships from family and folks you know in your faith community. They can donate per mile or simply make a donation. You can use the form on this website or use your own.
- After the ride, collect on your pledges. If you desire, you can keep up to ½ of the monies you collect for your own faith community for whatever projects or programs are important to you. This might boost your pledge balance if your sponsors know that they are contributing to your community as well as the SCIC. You could of course commit all your proceeds to the SCIC! The balance of the money should be sent to the SCIC at the address below. Any checks should be made out to the South Coast Interfaith Council. Designate the check “Bike-a-Thon 2019”. Please do this as soon after the ride as you can as we depend on these donations to carry out our mission.
- On the day of the ride we ask for a rider donation. If you have pre-registered – entered the information we request on this page- then you will be asked for a donation of $5.00. If you have not pre-registered we will ask for a donation of $10.00. Cash or checks will be accepted at that time.
- Enjoy the Ride. This is not a race, but a time to enjoy the weather, the conversation, new friends, and the earth given to us by our creator. Relax and enjoy the trip.
